Center School Families and Stakeholders:
Let me start by saying I am both excited and greatly honored to step into the position as Executive Director of The Center School. Over my past eight years here, from high school history teacher, to supervisor, and then Principal, I have witnessed first-hand the great academic and social/behavioral services our staff provide our students and the fruitful results. Not only am I proud to be part of this successful organization, but I am also extremely cognizant of the importance that it continues to operate consistently at a highly effective level to meet all the needs of the students we serve.
It is my great privilege to have the responsibility of rising to the challenge of ensuring this continued expectation. As part of my charge, I am proud to announce my implementation of a Center School Strategic Action Plan which addresses several key areas of importance to improve the efficacy of our services. Some of the targeted areas include curricula, technology, programming, staff development, and remote learning. Please know that my primary concerns are our school’s resolve to meet our students’ individual needs and our efficacy in providing an academic program which will afford every student a fulfilling learning experience.
I have high hopes and expectations for the future of our school given the many positive attributes of our students, staff, and stakeholders. There is much for us to be proud of. Most of all is our staff! All of our teachers and related services staff labor intensely each day to provide personalized learning and support for every student. They successfully create a safe and engaging learning environment where students can feel secure in their own identities and learn how to appreciate, accept, and understand the differences in people and cultures. We strive for the success of every student and believe that all of our students deserve the best opportunities to grow.
Most importantly, now, we are proactively addressing our newest challenge- Covid-19. Covid-19 is a historic and seminal event that has forever changed the face of K-12 education. When our school transitioned to remote learning on March 17, 2020, no one knew we would remain closed throughout the remainder of the school year. Our staff and parents continued providing high quality learning opportunities and related services to students through a robust and comprehensive virtual learning program, second to none. This successful and monumental task was only accomplished due to the dedication and great skill of our staff and unprecedented support of our parents. Unfortunately, however, our job is not done. Now we need to persevere in our efforts to develop ways to continue to deliver this high-quality educational instruction, related services support, and socialization activities our students require during their developmental years while continuing to live with restrictions for health and safety as we enter the 2020-2021 academic school year. To this end, we are ready and I am fully confident will be as equally successful.
One of my most important responsibilities to you, and personal beliefs, is communication- that we keep you informed of all that is taking place at The Center School. We need to continue to collaborate closely with all our families to maneuver our way forward with the schooling of our students. Whether our school model is an in-person school environment, fully remote, or a hybrid of both, we need to focus on the challenges and possible new needs the current health crisis presents our students. I plan on continuing to hold our remote parent-therapeutic meetings regularly to exchange ideas and problem solve. I am also prioritizing a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program to support our students and their families as we find ways to assist our students in learning how to face life’s challenges. Our weekly Principal’s Newsletter will continue to fill you in on our weekly activities and programs. We are also regularly updating our school website. You will find up-to-date events, school activities, Covid-19 information, and additional important information, so I encourage you to visit it as often as possible. And of course, as always, our staff will continue their open communications with you so that we can all work together to provide the best support for our students.
As Executive Director of this amazing school, I am confident and looking forward to continuing to provide our students a strong and vibrant education which is a priceless gift that will last them a lifetime. The dedication of our staff, our proven programs which have helped our students become successful, and our continued efforts to constantly improve will strengthen The Center School as we prepare to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in 2021.
Sincerely,
Ronald P. Rinaldi, Ed.D.
